The vibrant cuisine scene in the San Gabriel Valley is one of Southern California’s best-kept secrets. New and exciting bistros open up shop seemingly every week, and old standbys continue to pack in foodies of all stripes.  San Gabriel is a city in Los Angeles County named after the Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, founded by Junípero Serra, and lies at the foot of the San Gabriel mountains.  A notable stop for many tourists, the San Gabriel Mission founded in 1771 is beautiful historical site with churches, museum with many artifacts, winery, gardens, cemeteries and gift shop. The city of San Gabriel grew outward from the mission and in 1852 became the original township of Los Angeles County.

The Mission Playhouse

Constructed in 1927 to house John Steven McGroarty’s epic Mission Play charting the establishment of the California missions. The San Gabriel Mission Playhouse is a beautiful Spanish-style building steeped in history that has been home to thousands of music, theatre, and dance performances.
