JUDGING CRITERIA

Contestants are evaluated in three areas of competition: Private Interview, Swimsuit (Miss) / Activewear (Teen), and Evening Gown. Scores from the preliminary competition are tallied and audited following the Preliminary Show. During the Final Competition, semi-finalists will again compete in Swimsuit (Miss) / Activewear (Teen) and Evening Gown, before the judges select the Top 5 finalists. Finalists will answer an on-stage question and present a final look before judges independently select the winner and four runners-up in each division.

 

Judges are looking for contestants who demonstrate confidence, poise, communication skills, intelligence, stage presence, and overall presentation. The ideal titleholder represents the complete package and has the ability to serve as a positive role model and ambassador for California at the state, national, and international levels.

 

The winner may not score highest in a single category but will consistently perform well across all areas of competition.
